CVC Word Family Flowers Craft for Spring

If you are looking for an educational Spring Craft, check out this CVC Word Family flower template. Students build up to 20 different flowers using different word family words. This craft is perfect for a spring literacy center!

The flowers are simple to create! Choose which word family you would like your students to practice and print the flower pieces on any color of paper that you choose. Have your students cut out the pieces and lay them out as shown.

First, students will glue the flowerpot to the bottom of a piece of construction paper or tagboard. They then add the stem!

After gluing the flowerpot and stem, students glue the petals to the center of the flower.

Finally, students glue the flower to the top of the stem. The flowers are then complete!

I would have each of my students create a different word family flower and then I would display them. The students could practice reading each flower and the word family words that they see!

Fractions Pocket Chart Center for Kindergarten

Do you introduce fractions to your kindergarten students? If so, you may like this BASIC fractions pocket chart center. Students sort fraction pictures into whole, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4. They then put these fraction cards in a pocket chart.

I will use this pocket chart whole group at first to introduce fractions to my kindergarten kiddos. We will sort the fractions together as a class, starting off with just the whole and half cards. I will then add in the 1/3 and 1/4 cards when I determine my students are ready. I will add this set to our independent pocket chart center after students understand the concept.

Spring Pocket Chart Centers for Kindergarten

Hello Friends! I have been creating some Spring themed pocket charts because I know how quickly Spring will be here. 😊 I can't wait! 😊 As Spring approaches, students start to get a little wiggly, so pocket chart centers are the perfect way to keep your kids "up and moving" while still being engaged in learning. This will definitely help with some of those wiggles!

The pocket charts that I have completed so far focus on compound words, long vowels, and addition +10. I will be creating a few more because I like to change my pocket chart materials weekly.

Compound Word Pocket Chart Center-

Students look at the two pictures on the rainbow and join them together to create a compound word. They then find the compound word picture and match it with the rainbow. Simple!

Addition +10 Pocket Chart Center

Students practice adding 10 to a number using this pocket chart center. The set comes with ladybugs, flowers, and more!

Long Vowel Spring Pocket Chart Center-

Students practice reading long vowel cvc-e words and matching them to long vowel cvc-e pictures. I included a recording sheet for the students to complete when they finish the pocket chart. This is a great way for them to have some accountability when completing their learning center.

Penguins and Polar Bear Activities

Do you teach about Polar Bears and Penguins during the winter months? My students always love to learn about animals, and the polar animals are some of their favorite animals to learn about. I usually teach about polar bears and penguins separately, and then I spend a couple days comparing the two. Here are a few of the activities that I use.

Animal Reports Animal Writing

Do your students love to write about animals? Animals are always one of our favorite non-fiction writing topics! First, we research an animal of choice. Then we write!

I created this set of animal writing templates to put in my writing or art center. Students choose an animal, write a few sentences about the animal, color, and then display. These templates are no-prep (just print and copy). If you have fast finishers, they can complete more than one animal.

This set includes zoo animals!

Winter Pocket Chart Centers for Kindergarten

Hello teacher friends.....I hope that you are having an amazing school year! Can you believe that it is already November? Christmas and Winter will be here before you know it. When November rolls around, I start thinking about cold weather. How about you? I start prepping my Winter kindergarten resources early, so that in a few weeks they are ready to go. ☃❄

This year I created a new set of Winter Themed Pocket Charts. The students love the pocket chart center! Do yours?
