Spring Sight Word Poems for Shared Reading

Poems are the perfect way to teach fluency, concepts of print, and even SIGHT WORDS! I use poetry throughout the year in kindergarten. We have a poetry notebook, and we add to it each week. The poems that I have created are perfect for new readers. They are simple, predictable, and full of sight words. You can pair them up with your sight word of the week, or use them as a review of sight words that you have already taught. I have the kiddos highlight the sight words. These poems make a perfect independent reading resource for book boxes. Here are a few poems from my spring poem set.

I also created these poems into pocket charts so that the students could put them together in our pocket chart center. This makes a great follow up to your lessons with the poems. See the pocket charts here.
