26 Alphabet Pocket Charts for Kindergarten or Preschool

Introducing the alphabet is one of the most important skills at the beginning kindergarten. Developing this foundation early is key to successful reading later in the year. One of the resources that I use to teach my kindergarten students alphabet recognition and letter sounds are these alphabet pocket charts. They are perfect to use during our letter of the week.

At the beginning of each week, I introduce the pocket chart by looking at each picture, stretching the picture sounds emphasizing the beginning letter sound, and then letting my students help me put the cards in the pocket chart. We leave this pocket chart up throughout the entire week and talk about it each day. Sometimes we practice onset and rhime with the picture cards, we add photographs of students that begin with that certain letter to the pocket chart, and we count syllables for each picture.

You could use two of these pocket charts together and let your students sort the pictures by beginning letter sound! This is one of those versatile resources that can be used in so many different ways.

Grab this set of 26 Pocket Charts here in my TPT shop! This resource is available as a digital download. That means you can print it and use it today. I recommend printing this resource on card-stock for durability.

This set of pocket charts goes well with my Alphabet Find and Color Printables! You could use these printables after using each specific pocket chart to introduce your students to the alphabet.
