Winter Graphing Center for Kindergarten or First Grade

Are you looking for new center ideas to add to your math center after Christmas break? I created this set of winter graphs to add to my math rotations. This set comes with enough materials for 5 different math center activities.

Each set comes with 12 picture cards and 4 different graphs that I will place in my math center. Students will sort the winter pictures and place them in a pocket chart to keep them organized. (Students love the pocket chart!) They will then complete the four graphing activities that go with the pictures. These graphing activities include creating a bar graph, pictograph, tally chart, and circle graph. These graphs are very basic and were created with kindergarten students in mind.

We will complete one of the graphing sets together before I place this in my math center so that my students know exactly what to do.

Build a Digraph Snowman Literacy Center

Are you looking for more literacy center ideas for your classroom? Check out this build a digraph snowman center. Your students will love building these digraph snowmen during your center time! Students build the snowmen by matching a picture snowball with a beginning digraph snowball, and then add a head. Simple as that! I included a recording sheet for the kiddos to complete after building the snowmen. (This holds them accountable by having something to turn in.)

You can add magnetic tape to the back of the snowmen to create a magnet center! I found the magnetic tape in the craft section at Wal-Mart. Students can build the snowman on a magnetic surface.

Christmas Shape Creation Book

Are you looking for a Christmas Keepsake to send home with your students this holiday season? I created this shape creation book with that in mind. Send these books home before Christmas break. Parents will love seeing what their children drew, and they will keep these books for years to come.

Students change ordinary shapes into shape creations! Each page of the shape creation book has a different shape. Students draw to change that shape into a given holiday themed object. Some examples include changing a triangle into a Christmas Tree and changing an oval into a reindeer. This is the perfect way to let students practice shapes and environmental shapes, but it also gives them something to share with their family during the holidays.
